During my time at Nvolve, I had an amazing experience that exceeded all my expectations. The program offered a variety of assignments and helpful advice that allowed me to grow personally and professionally.
One of the highlights was the engaging huddle sessions, where we discussed important topics like time management, building good habits, and critical thinking.
Additionally, I had the opportunity to work on technical projects such as creating a UX/UI podcast, which allowed me to apply my creativity and problem-solving skills. I collaborated with a talented team member to create engaging and informative episodes that explored various aspects of UX/UI design. Through research, scriptwriting, and recording sessions, I deepened my understanding of the field and improved my communication skills. I also had the opportunity to develop a Tableau dashboard and learn about designing intuitive and visually appealing data visualizations.
The podcast and dashboard projects allowed me to contribute my unique perspective while learning from others in a supportive and dynamic environment. These experiences not only enhanced my technical proficiency but also gave me a sense of teamwork and accomplishment.
What made my Nvolve experience truly exceptional was my mentor. She provided valuable guidance, encouraged me to push my limits, and offered feedback. I am grateful for her expertise and support throughout this journey. The Nvolve community of scholars made my experience memorable, too. Collaborating with like-minded peers who shared a passion for growth and diversity created a sense of belonging and connection. The friendships and relationships I made continue to inspire me.
Nvolve helped me develop important skills, broadened my perspective, and boosted my confidence in pursuing my goals. Nvolve has made a lasting impact on my journey, and I am excited to carry the valuable lessons and experiences with me as I start my new journey. Meet the Mentor: Sania Khan
As the VP of User Experience and Incubation at Ellucian, a market leader in Higher Education software, my role revolves around ensuring the delivery of top-notch user experiences that fulfill the diverse needs of our users. Simultaneously, I spearhead an innovative team constantly pushing the envelope with disruptive technology. This dual aspect of my work -- creating value in the present while inventing the future -- is an exhilarating challenge that keeps me on my toes.
I was instantly interested when the opportunity arose to mentor through the Nvolve program. My passion for technology has always gone hand-in-hand with a desire to empower the next generation of women leaders in STEM. Nvolve provided an avenue for me to make a difference, give back to the community, and kindle the spark in aspiring tech leaders.
The Nvolve program is centered on an unwavering commitment to providing scholars with opportunities and preparing them for the job market. The guidance and assignments focus on preparing the scholars to become highly accountable individuals with excellent communication skills. The journey as a mentor has been extremely rewarding. It has been eye-opening to witness first-hand the unique challenges women face in tech and gratifying to strive to make a difference.
My mentee, Aysha, is a testament to the strength of this program. Aysha has always shown a commendable tenacity, determined to seize opportunities that add value to her life and career, even when choosing an easier path is tempting. Always kind-hearted and hungry to learn, Aysha will undoubtedly secure an excellent job and rise through the ranks as a tech leader, a future solidified by her maturity and resilience.
